George Strait won the night's first televised award as "Give It Away" won Song Of The Year. Bill Anderson, the song's writer, commented that he was old enough to be Carrie Underwood's grandfather and thanked the fans for allowing him to still be involved in country music. Miranda Lambert shook things up with "Famous In A Small Town," the lead single for her new album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Miranda's new album debuted at Number One on the Billboard Country Charts last week. Martina McBride followed with an inspiring rendition of her hit, "Anyway," from her latest album Waking Up laughing. Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts was presented Album Of The Year. Josh Turner performed Would You Go With Me, the hit from Your Man which garnered an AMC Single of the Year nomination. Rodney Atkins won the ACM award for Best New Male Vocalist, continuing the trail of success blazed by his hit, If You're Going Thru Hell. George Strait, who led the field with eight ACM nominations, performed "Wrapped," from his album It Just Comes Natural. Little Big Town was honored as Best New Duo or Vocal Group. Carrie Underwood, who was nominated for five ACM Awards, followed with a performance of "Wasted," from her album breathrough debut album Some Hearts. Recent CMT Music Awards winner Taylor Swift performed an acoustic rendition of her hit, "Tim McGraw," from her album Taylor Swift, walking into the audience and singing directly in front of Tim McGraw, finishing the song with, "Hi, I'm Taylor." Entertainer of the Year nominee Racal Flatts performed "He Ain't The Leaving Kind," from their mega-hit album, Me And My Gang. Miranda Lambert was crowned Top New Female Vocalist by last year's winner, Carrie Underwood. Brad Paisley performed his hit, "Ticks," the lead single from his forthcoming album, 5th Gear. Toby Keith was backed by a bevy of beauties in hard hats on his new single, "High Maintenance Woman," the lead track from his forthcoming new album, Big Dog Daddy. Brooks & Dunn were presented the Home Depot Humanitarium Award. Big & Rich were joined by John Legand on "Lost In The Moment," from the forthcoming album Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace. "Give It Away" was golden again for George Strait, landing Single Record of the Year. Jason Aldean rocked the Vegas crowd with "Johnny Cash," the lead single off his forthcoming album, Relentless. ACM Host Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson performed their new duet, "Because of You," from Reba's forthcoming album, Duets. Brad Paisley won Top Male Vocalist and thanked the fans for buying whatever he puts out - including people drinking themselves to death and bugs. Brooks & Dunn performed the title track from their Hillbilly Deluxe album. Rascal Flatts was named Top Vocal Group. Sugarland rocked the house with their new single, "Everday America," from their album Enjoy The Ride. Brooks & Dunn edged out Country's Dynamic Duo to win Top Vocal Duo. Carrie Underwood continued her trail of success and was named Top Female Vocalist.
