Keith Urban : Be Here

Keith Urban’s Max It Out for Meningitis will be held Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Rocketown located at 401 Sixth Avenue South in Nashville, TN. Inspired by 4-year old bacterial meningitis survivor, Max Royka, Max It Out increases awareness about the disease and raises funds for further research. Platinum recording artist, Keith Urban, will host and perform at the event, now in its third year.

Over 650 people are expected to attend the Max It Out event that includes a dinner, open bar and live auction. Mr. Urban will donate his prized 357 Customs Chopper (motorcycle) as a give-away valued at $78,000. It will be shipped to the lucky winner anywhere in the continental United States. The proceeds raised for the event will benefit the Edwards Pediatric Meningitis Research Fund via Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. “We are extremely grateful to Keith for his generosity and all he has done for our cause over the last few years,” said Jill Royka, Co-Founder and Director of Keith Urban’s Max It Out and mother of Max Royka. “Through his efforts, we have been able to increase awareness about meningitis and take a proactive approach in preventing others from contracting this debilitating disease. Keith invites many top-rated artists to join him on stage making Max It Out a truly spectacular evening of entertainment and fun.”

In July of 2000, Jill and Matt Royka’s six week old son, Max, contracted bacterial meningitis. He was hospitalized for seven weeks and suffered severe brain damage. Friends in the Nashville community helped organize a charity run, concert and auction to benefit baby Max. In January of 2002, Jill became the event director for Keith Urban’s Max It Out for Meningitis so that she and Matt could give something back to the community that helped her son. Keith Urban became involved because he is a friend of Matt and Jill and watched their son go through his difficult bout with meningitis. Keith has helped the family raise $164,000 for meningitis research by putting on two earlier concerts with his talented friends.
