First Annual Shiner BASH Dallas

Shiner BASH

With the city of Dallas as a backdrop, the first annual Shiner BASH Dallas, a showcase of Texas and Americana music, is set for Saturday, April 30, 2005. This day-long music festival, sponsored by Shiner beers, takes place at Gilley’s Dance Hall. The all-star line-up includes Dwight Yoakam, Chris Cagle, Aaron Tippin, Darryl Lee Rush, Eleven Hundred Springs and Bill Pekar.

The special VIP concert with surprise performers is scheduled after Shiner BASH. The party moves inside Gilley’s Dance Hall and VIP tickets cost an additional $10. The legend of the original Gilley’s in Pasadena, Texas, crystallized the very moment country music was building a bridge to the rock generation, the moment when country became pop, and music would never be the same again. Today, Gilley’s Dallas carries the legend, but the new location offers state-of-the-art facilities for fans and entertainers.

Kentucky native Dwight Yoakum blazed out of the Los Angeles club scene in 1986 with his debut “Guitars, Cadillacs,” which went on to score double-platinum status; BASH will give audiences the opportunity to see why Time magazine hails him as “A Renaissance Man.” Chris Cagle is a blue collar, working class country singer who’s not afraid to sweat or get loud; you’ll see yourself in his music that champions blue collar workers, the overlooked and the underpaid. Aaron Tippin has performed in honky-tonks since the 70s and has pursued his music with a vengeance. Tippin will remind concert-goers of how great it is to be an American when they hear his patriotic anthem “Where The Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly,” which peaked at number two on the Country Music Charts. Texas singer/songwriter Darryl Lee Rush was born in Markham, a small farming community in south central Texas. Like many great songwriters, he paints a lively, humorous and often irreverent picture of the diverse Texas landscape. Eleven Hundred Springs, a five-piece band from Texas, will have the crowd dancing to hits from their newest release Bandwagon. Shiner native Bill Pekar and his road band, The Rainey Brothers, will entertain Shiner fans with some of his Texas tunes such as “The Colors are all the Same” and “Jack Daniels and Michelle.”

Gates open at 1:00 p.m. and the music plays from 1:30 until 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $19.09 (the Shiner Brewery was opened in 1909) and are available at the Gilley’s Box Office and Star Tickets, located inside Albertsons Grocery Stores. Bring a folding chair and get ready for a good time. Great food and beverages — including award-winning Shiner brews — will be available for purchase throughout the day. Other activities include interactive games, exhibits and exciting foods.

The Spoetzl Brewery is the oldest independent brewery in Texas and boasts a world-class, award-winning reputation. The historic brewery offers four year-round brews and two very popular seasonal products. The Spoetzl Brewery brews Shiner Bock(R), the country’s #4 selling specialty beer; Shiner Blonde, a Bohemian-inspired natural golden lager; Shiner Hefeweizen, a bottle-conditioned, unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat brew; Shiner Winter Ale, a Bavarian-style Dunkleweizen; Shiner Summer Stock(R), a German-style Kolsch bier; and Shiner Light, a full-flavored amber light beer.
