Jo Dee Messina : Delicious Surprise

Jo Dee has a ìDelicious Surpriseî in store just for you. Her first studio album in almost three years, Delicious Surprise, will be in stores today (April 26). The album, Jo Deeís fourth studio album, is that rare recording that captures the true essence of an artistís soul. She has put together a group of songs that come from her heart, a group of songs that are meant to convey a musical message of optimism, strength and hope. Delicious Surprise, which features four songs either written or co-written by Jo Dee, is a 12-track recording co-produced by Jo Dee, Byron Gallimore and Mark Bright. Not only does it contain Jo Deeís latest hit, ìMy Give A Damnís Busted,î but it also contains up-tempo rockers and poignant ballads that show the power and finesse of one of country musicís finest voices.

Be sure to check out Jo Dee’s television interviews and performances:

Wednesday April 27 – ABC’s “Good Morning America”
Thursday April 28 – ABC’s “The View” and CNN’s “Showbiz Tonight
Saturday April 30 – CBS’s “Saturday Early Show”
Sunday May 1 – A performance and interview on MSNBC’s “The Hot List”

ìMusic has always been an enormous part of my life,î said Jo Dee. ìItís not just something I do, itís part of who I am. Songwriting to me is my refuge, a safe place to me where I can go to spell out my emotions, especially when dealing with tough situations. It helps me to gain perspective. You could say that songwriting gives me emotional freedom.î

Delicious Surprise also includes songs, not written by Jo Dee, that capture her essence ñ her feistiness, her strength and her humor. No song is more indicative of this than the powerful tongue and cheek rocker first single, ìMy Give A Damnís Busted.î As Jo Deeís first song released to radio in nearly two years, it marks another in a list of milestones for her ñ itís her fastest rising single ever at country radio. Itís flown up the charts and taken its place as another in a long line of Messina hits.

However, itís the albumís title track that offers the essence of Jo Dee ñ the dreamer who understands that tenacity and audacity are the keys to achieving.

ìTo me, the ëdelicious surpriseí in life is the dreaming, getting there, without limits, without putting up boundaries, just having faith and working hard. Dreams are meant to be followed and if your heart speaks it then it doesnít matter how far-fetched it seems. You have to believe.î

And that sentiment is what you get from the opening bars of Delicious Surprise. It is an appropriate place to start, again for Jo Dee, because no doubt she will continue to carry that intensity wherever she goes. Make no mistake, Jo Dee Messina is here to stay and despite all that she has been through she stands strong and defiant, with a clear sense of her purpose and passion.

Jo Dee Messina is an award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist that has given her heart and soul to find success. Since her debut in 1996, Jo Dee has had 8 #1 hits, sold more then 5 million albums and has received critical acclaim for her explosive singing style and electrifying performances. She has won countless awards including the Academy of Country Music’s Top Female Artist of the Year (1999), was the winner of the CMA’s prestigious Horizon Award and was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week #1 songs from the same album.
