100.3 KILT Big Country Cure For Kids St. Jude Radiothon

Thanks to the generosity of Houston country music fans, the KILT toteboard totals $556,725. This 37-hour live on-air radiothon was hosted by KILT's legendary personalities, including Hudson and Harrigan, Steve Rixx and Rowdy Yates, to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the world's premier center for the research and treatment of catastrophic childhood diseases. "100.3 KILT is proud to be associated with this worthy cause and genuinely honored to be chosen as St. Jude's Houston Radio Partner. The research done at St. Jude directly benefits the children in our community right here in Houston! We are proud to be able to continue the KILT tradition of using the station resources to make a difference in people's lives," stated Laura Morris, VP/GM Infinity Radio Houston.  The general public was encouraged to come by and meet KILT's on-air personalities and become a Partner in Hope to help St. Jude or call 1-800-339-HOPE. Among this year's highlights, Houston area St. Jude patients were there to tell their stories and share why it is so important to become at St. Jude Partner in Hope. Thousands of children have benefited from the cutting-edge research and treatment at St. Jude since its opening in 1962. As a Partner in Hope, you will join a select group of committed donors who pay for chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries that St. Jude patients desperately need. Today, as always, no child admitted to St. Jude is ever turned away because of his or her family's inability to pay for our life-saving medical care.

KILT's Steve Rixx interviews eleven year old Alex Prendergast. Diagnosed with cancer at age four, Alex received St. Jude protocol treatment at MD Anderson in Houston and is now cancer free.  The Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program began 16 years ago, after Randy Owen, lead singer of the music group Alabama, met St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. Since its inception, Country Cares has grown to be one of the most successful radio fund-raising events in the nation, with more than 200 radio station partners raising more than $225 million in pledges. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world.
