38th Annual CMA Awards

"Country Music's Biggest Night" is living up to its reputation with the announcement of standout artists performing on "The 38th Annual CMA Awards" live on the CBS Television Network Tuesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. CMA also announced an impressive list of presenters appearing on the broadcast.

"We have all the ingredients for an amazing show," said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. "This is one CMA Awards Country Music enthusiasts will not want to miss."

Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson kicked off the 2003 CMA Awards with "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" and Margaritaville's favorite son is back in 2004 with a star-packed performance of his nominated Hank Williams classic "Hey Good Lookin'" from Buffett's License to Chill album. Joining Buffett are Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and George Strait. Buffett is also nominated for Music Video of the Year with Jackson for "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." In 2003, Buffett won his first-ever music award when he and Jackson picked up the CMA Vocal Event trophy for the No.1 hit. This all-star collaboration unites four former CMA Male Vocalist winners. Black received the award in 1990; Jackson in 2002 and 2003; Keith in 2001; and Strait in 1985, 1986, 1996-1998. Jackson, who tops the list of nominees with seven nominations this year, has tapped one of the most critically-acclaimed stylists in the format for his performance on the 2004 CMA Awards. Patty Loveless, who was named CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in 1996, will join Jackson for "Monday Morning Church."

Terri Clark, the Canadian firebrand with blistering guitar licks and the attitude to play it loud will also perform on the CMA Awards. Clark is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. She received her first nomination in the CMA Female Vocalist category in 2003.

Montgomery Gentry (Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry) received their first CMA Awards nomination in 1999 in the Vocal Duo of the Year category and have been nominated every year since - including 2004. They won the trophy in 2000 against duo powerhouse Brooks & Dunn, which marked Brooks & Dunn's only career defeat in the category. Expect this rocking pair to bring along the three "As" of their personal stock of Country Music - attitude, adrenaline and adult beverages.

CMA also announced the first list of presenters for the CMA Awards broadcast including Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Clint Black, Buddy Jewell, Joe Nichols, SHeDAISY and special guest Shania Twain.

Brooks & Dunn, who will also perform, will host "The 38th CMA Awards." Previously announced performers include Dierks Bentley; Big & Rich; Kenny Chesney; Sara Evans; Alan Jackson; Toby Keith; Martina McBride; Reba McEntire; Tim McGraw; Brad Paisley with Alison Krauss; Rascal Flatts; Julie Roberts; George Strait; Josh Turner; Shania Twain with Billy Currington; Keith Urban; and Gretchen Wilson with additional names to be announced soon.

The CMA Awards are produced by Walter C. Miller, directed by Paul Miller and scripted by David Wild. MJI Programming, a Division of Premiere Radio Networks, is the official radio packager of the CMA Awards, which includes Red Carpet coverage and a stereo-radio simulcast of the event. American Airlines is the Official Airline of the 2004 CMA Awards.
