Kenny Chesney Leads Mid Year Tour Roundup

Kenny Chesney : Be As You Are

Kenny Chesney's Somewhere In The Sun tour has attracted more fans than any other tour in North America this year. Chesney has played to 610,000 people this year already, while U2 drew just over 499,000 and Dion sold just over 321,000 tickets. Chesney says, "The thing I hate about these rankings is that no one ever looks at what the facts mean, and you can make all kinds of claims based on any number of things. To me, I'd like to think the biggest tour isn't measured by ticket prices, but about the number of people coming to see you play, and for me, even though this is a big production, a lot of trucks, a major crew, I wanna do it ultimately for the fans. I want to play for all those kids, all those people who come to have a big party with us, and I really try to make sure that everybody who wants to come can."

Kenny Chesney's latest album, Be As You Are was released on January 25, 2005.

According to Pollstar, Kenny Chesney's mid year gross of $35 million ranks as the highest grossing country tour for the first half of 2005. Other top grossing country tours include George Strait ($14.5 million), Reba McEntire/Brad Paisley ($9.8 million), Rascall Flats ($9.5 million), Allison Kraus and Union Station ($7.6 million), Toby Keith ($4.6 million), Alan Jackson ($4.2 million), Brooks and Dunn ($3.6 million), and Brad Paisley (2.9 million).
