Gary Allan's Life Ain't Always Beautiful video made it's world premiere Thursday, March 30, 2006, during CMT's Top 20 Countdown. The video has also been added to CMT's "Hot Shot" rotation. Life Ain't Always Beautiful is the second single from Allan's latest album, Tough All Over, following on the success of the hit single "Best I Ever Had", which was selected as one of 2005's 100 Greatest Songs of the Year by Blender magazine.
Tough All Over debuted at Number One on the Billboard Country Album Chart in October 2005. The New York Times calls the album "elegant" and "dazzling," while in USA Today the album was described as "sometimes chilling, always heartbreaking – achingly beautiful." Country Weekly calls the album "one of the bravest and most stunningly intimate mainstream country albums ever made."
