Heartbreak is a universal experience, but rising star Jenna Paulette is here to tell you that it doesn’t have to define you. The Texas native, known for her authentic western roots and powerful songwriting, just released a new track that’s already being hailed as an “antidote to heartbreak.”
Available now from Leo33, “Maggie’s Song (Old Blue Jeans)” is more than just a melody; it’s an empowering anthem designed to remind every woman of the “badass” residing within her.
Inspired by Friendship, Built for Confidence
The origin of “Maggie’s Song” is deeply personal, penned by Paulette alongside veteran songwriters Smith Ahnquist and Brent Anderson. Paulette revealed that the song was written for her best friend of two decades, who was struggling after a difficult split.
“She was going through it and told me she could really use a skinny cigarette, so I gave her a song to smoke when she needed it instead,” Paulette says with characteristic candor.
The resulting track serves as a sonic hug, urging women to find comfort, confidence, and immense power in their everyday lives—even if it’s just in their favorite pair of well-worn denim.
“Sometimes the best thing I can do for someone is give them a jam to remind them just how bad ass they are—she doesn’t need all the bull he put her through but she does need to remember she’s a heartbreaker in just her old blue jeans,” Paulette adds. “Hopefully this will do that for her and anyone else that needs the reminder.”
A Rising Star in the Lone Star State
The release of “Maggie’s Song (Old Blue Jeans)” marks Paulette’s first new music since debuting “High Noon” at the 61st ACM Awards Whiskey Jam in Las Vegas earlier this year.
It has been a banner year for the singer-songwriter. She recently earned her first No. 1 hit at Texas radio with the track “Steady”—a song she credits her husband, Ross, with inspiring. When Paulette isn’t on the road, she and Ross live the life she sings about, ranching in southwest Texas.
Beyond the music, Paulette continues to merge her love for the ranching lifestyle with business ventures. In 2025, she launched her “Sunrise and Sunset Boots” collection with Justin Boots and expanded her “CowboyGirl” women’s rangewear line with Ely Cattleman.
