Trace Adkins Comin' On Strong

Trace Adkins begins the New Year with another milestone, as his album Comin' On Strong is certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, marking one million copies sold.

"This is a great milestone to tell the world what we at Capitol Records have known for quite a while – that Trace Adkins ranks among the very few artists who can legitimately lay claim to the word "Star", said Mike Dungan, President/CEO, Capitol Records Nashville. "Consistently successful for several years, this career has now officially exploded!" Adkins, whose eight-year-long career has been strong and steady, is on a hot streak with a much-heralded performance at the Orange Bowl halftime show, sold-out tour dates and multiple RIAA certifications. His success has led to acting roles and commercials, including a stint as national spokesman for KFC.

In recent months, Adkins has been on the cover of American Profile, American Country, Tall magazine, and currently Country Weekly. Features and reviews have appeared in such publications as Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, People, TV Guide, Rolling Stone, USA Today and more.

When Comin' On Strong was certified Gold in March 2004 ñ 3 months after its release, it was his third Gold Record certification in one year, including his previous album, Greatest Hits Collection, Volume I, and its predecessor, Chrome. The DVD Trace Adkins Video Hits was also certified Gold.

Comin' On Strong , Adkins' sixth album, contains his latest big hits "Hot Mama," and "Rough & Ready." Released in December 2003, it broke Adkins' personal debut week sales record, set just five months earlier by his No 1 charting Greatest Hits CD.

"Trace is more popular than ever and primed to ascend the top of the country charts," said Bill Kennedy, VP, Sales, Capitol Records Nashville.

Adkins' latest single, "Songs About Me," the debut single from his yet-to-be titled new studio album scheduled for release Spring, and is already burning up the country singles charts. Watch for the new video to air soon on CMT and GAC.
